Biracial Couple Gives Birth to Twins: One Black, One White

A few years back, fraternal twins Triniti and Ghabriael were born 11 weeks early — and their arrival into the world baffled their parents, doctors and nurses. Born just minutes apart in Akron, OH, light-skinned Ghabriael takes after his mom, Khristi, who is white, and dark-skinned Triniti takes after her dad, Charles, who is black. The odds of inheriting such vastly different skin color in twins are a million to one.

Triniti has ebony-colored skin and dark features, but Gabe has ivory-white skin, blue eyes and blond hair. Both babies have grown up to be happy, healthy, and surrounded by love. These days, Khristi and Charles don't pay much attention to their kids' skin color, but the same can't be said about strangers and passers-by who give the twins odd looks and ask many questions, i.e., "Are you babysitting?" "Are you sure they're twins?" "Are you sure they're related?" Strangers have even suggested that Charles isn't the father, and have referred to Triniti and Ghabriael as "mutts."

So inspired by the love they have for each other, and for their twins, Mom and Dad hope their kids grow up in a world that's truly colorblind. Meet the Cunningham family below, and please SHARE this story with your friends on Facebook!
