Susie Osei had a special wedding venue in mind for her and her high school sweetheart Miles' wedding.
She wanted to get married on the same street that she grew up on in Mount Prospect, IL.

It's also the street where her father and mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's, still live.
She chose the street so her mother wouldn't have to travel, and was eager to put the ceremony together quickly so she would still have time to enjoy it.

Having been inseparable since high school, the couple wanted to hurry and make the marriage something that her mother could experience, rather than wait too long planning out the details.
“Miles became more aware of the fact that having my mom still present — and I don’t mean physically — on the day we got married was more important than waiting for a time that would be less complicated,” she explained to the Huffington Post.

They also didn't want to ask her parents to pay for anything. They just wanted to a fun, easygoing ceremony surrounded by loved ones.
But even that would prove hard for the couple to plan since they were both in grad school and working full-time.

Fortunately, the Oseis and their neighbors are an incredibly close-knit group. Their block has even been throwing parties on the Fourth of July for over 80 years!
Being so close with the couple and parents, friends and neighbors were happy to step in and help make the ceremony happen.

Osei's father emailed the neighbors, initially just asking if the wedding could be held on the block.
But they responded with so many well-wishes and offers to help plan the party.

Together, the neighbors banded together to help where they could. They offered to DJ, hang lights, donate silverware, give flowers from their gardens, and even decorate the wedding cake!
Her father was also a big help. He made the reception's centerpieces and a welcome door for the couple to walk through — all while taking care of his wife.

The final product of all of their efforts could not have been more beautiful.
“I’m never going to be able to truly have people understand how much my neighbors did for this wedding,” Osei explained.

Her oldest brother also officiated the wedding, making it even more personal for the entire family.
In the end, she and Miles got their wish for a simple, yet beautiful, ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

And most importantly, her mother had the most wonderful time.
By deciding to make their marriage happen rather than wait, they were able to see a beloved family member be fully present during one of the most important days of their lives.

Osei even inherited her mother's wedding ring since she is now unable to wear it.
Her devotion to her family truly makes their marriage even more meaningful.

Thanks to the kindness of her close-knit neighbors, the couple was able to have a quick, meaningful, and amazing wedding!
