Like many animals, raccoons have distinctive features that make them easy to identify. All it takes is one look at those bandit eyes, which stand out against their gray fur.
Believe it or not, however, not all raccoons carry these characteristics. Similarly to that rare albino green sea turtle in Australia and those weirdly cute sea bunnies, a raccoon in a Canadian animal shelter is turning heads.
The rare raccoon appeared at Hope for Wildlife in Nova Scotia, stunning everyone with her unique color. In over two decades, the animal shelter has only seen two of these adorable little mammals. This raccoon didn't have those black circles around her eyes, nor the usual coat.
"We actually have many people that say she looks like a little fox," Chelsea Pullen, a veterinary technician, told CTV News. "But no, she's a blonde raccoon." (I don't know about you, but I've never seen one of these!)
Pullen explains that the reason for her coat is simply a lack of pigment in her skin and hair follicles.
"But if you will notice, she actually has a brown nose and brown eyes, so she's not a true albino," Pullen adds.
