Bodycam footage showing officers examining the room Bob Saget died in at the time the comedian was found dead as well as photos of the scene were released by the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida. The Ritz-Carlton hotel room showed very few signs of the comedian's presence, let alone of any struggle or happening within the room. Police were not able to determine, based on the photos or their investigation, what in the room Bob could have hit his head on. His official cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma to the head, in an accidental manner.
Still, some of the photos are a little haunting. A partial body impression can be seen on the bed that his body was removed from. On the nightstand, his cellphone and tablet were charging. He also had two bottles of water, his glasses, and lip balm.
Elsewhere in the room, Bob had a jacket hanging in the closet and a pair of shoes on the floor nearby. A discarded N-95 mask was in his trash can. In the bathroom, a comb and deodorant sat on a shelf above the sink. Towels in the shower indicated the actor may have used it, though there was no indication that he had struck his head there.
The images came out just a week after Bob's wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters were granted a permanent injunction to block the release of certain documents tied to the actor's death.
"The entire Saget family is grateful that the judge granted their request for an injunction to preserve Bob's dignity, as well as their privacy rights, especially after suffering this unexpected and tragic loss," family attorney Brian Bieber said on their behalf in a statement.
Also recently released was an incident report by Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany, MD, who performed Bob's autopsy. Dr. Stephany claimed the injury was most likely caused by "something hard, covered by something soft." He also said with no definitive way to determine when the injury occurred, he "believed it was probably within hours of his death, possibly within a day or two, depending on several medical factors."
