As an animal lover, I have a certain soft spot for dogs.
There's nothing more heartbreaking than an abandoned, injured dog — especially when it's clear that they were probably once someone's pet.
When a dog has been domesticated and hasn't grown up in the wild, it's hard (if not impossible) for them to survive on their own. It's that much harder if they've suffered some kind of debilitating injury that prevents them from fending for themselves while they heal.
All too often, these animals lose their fights to survive if a rescue organization or some other hero doesn't manage to come along and save them.
Thankfully, a dog named Bobby found her rescuers — or rather, they found her! Now, she has a place to call her forever home and people to call her forever family.

Łukasz Muniowski and his wife Natalia were biking along the Polish countryside in 2015 when they came upon a strange sight — a dog popping its head up from a roadside ditch.
"My wife said, 'Oh, a dog,'"Łukasz told The Dodo. "And we stopped."
But the dog got scared and hobbled away, hiding in a drain.

Łukasz and Natalia realized that the lonely dog was moving oddly — with her back in the air and on wobbly back legs. They knew they had to help her.
Slowly but surely, the couple coaxed the fearful pup out of her hiding spot — she even put her paws right on Łukasz's hand when he reached in towards her!

Łukasz was eventually able to scoop up the dog. They immediately took her to the vet, who recognized that the thin, dirty dog's back legs appeared to be broken.
The vet guessed that the poor creature had been hit by a car or caught in a hunting trap. They estimated that she'd probably been running around on her broken legs for 3 or 4 weeks.
One of her paws was in such bad shape that it looked like it was hanging from a single thread.

“He suggested that we put her down, because there's no point in making this dog suffer if we don't find her a home first," Łukasz said. "That was when we made the decision that we'll take her. We just looked at each other and we knew that we want to have this puppy."
So the sweet, small dog — who they named Bobby — joined their family.

Sadly, one of Bobby's broken paws did end up needing to be amputated. But another vet in Warsaw was able to operate on Bobby's second broken leg and repair it.
She also received a brace that would help her walk.
The couple thought their new rescue dog would never run again. But incredibly, she has healed well enough to do just that with her new parents — and her dog brothers!

Bobby joined Leon, the couple's existing rescue dog. Based on the family's photos, it seems that the two are getting along swimmingly!
Łukasz tells LittleThings that they've since added another member to their crew — a 15-year-old dog named Krecik who they adopted in February 2017.

Łukasz describes Bobby as just a normal dog, who loves doing "regular dog stuff" — chasing sticks, exploring, and sniffing everywhere.
"She's very loving and kind," he said. "She loves when we fall asleep together. She sometimes hugs us with her paws and rests her head on our knees and lays like that for hours."

Clearly, Bobby is happy, loved, and healthy in her new home!
