Boss Sells Company For $6MM, Splits It All With His Factory Employees

J.C. Huizenga owns two automation factories in Michigan. He sold the successful company for $5.75 million in 2015. When the profit-sharing checks arrived, he did something that left his 575 employees stunned: He split the earnings with all of them. Bonuses ranged from $500 to $50,000, depending on how long employees had worked there.

"I'm a son of a garbage man, so I can appreciate people for what they contribute," the generous boss said. "It is a team of people. I'll take people over assets all day long."

In fact, his employees are so good, the company's turnover rate is low, and the new owners plan to keep everyone on the payroll.

"The new owner was a little concerned that we didn't make the bonuses too high, because they wanted to make sure that everybody showed up for work the next day," J.C. said.

Needless to say, the employees are grateful for the big surprise, especially those who are hard-working parents.

"The identity of the company is to give, and he encourages us to do that, to take what we've been given and pass it on," said employee Curt Bosch.

While no doubt an extraordinary gesture, J.C. simply thinks it was the right thing to do. He believes giving is a far more amazing feeling than taking.

"The gratitude they showed was way beyond my expectation," he said. "I would recommend it to anybody. It's great to be a giver."
