Boston Bus Driver Treats His Passengers To Some Lemonade

A longtime Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus driver did something unusual on his shift when he saw children selling lemonade on the street: He asked his passengers if they wanted a cup!

When they told him they did, John Lohan pulled his bus over and treated each one to a refreshing treat. Although the lemonade was 50 cents a cup, Lohan gave the children $10 and then went back to work.

“I thought it would take 90 seconds, tops,” he told Boston.com of the impromptu stop. “Which is about what it was. … I wait at red lights longer than that.”

This moment — reminiscent of the time a police officer changed a girl's life when he saw her selling lemonade — is touching because it shows the unselfish deed of a good Samaritan. And who doesn't enjoy seeing people lending a helping hand?

On a regular day, however, Lohan probably wouldn’t have been able to make this little pit stop. Since all the passengers gave him the okay and it wasn’t rush hour, he was able to do so.

“All the stars were aligned,” he added. “The conditions were just right. … Ninety percent of the time, you can’t do that on the job.”
