Mom With Breast Cancer Asks For Check, But Waitress Hands Her A Stranger’s Note About His Wife

A cancer diagnosis is tough for anyone to hear. It left mother Jerina Edwards wondering what her family's life would be like if they were to lose her to breast cancer.

Throughout her illness, she says she has experienced kindness from many people around her, friends and strangers alike. But it was a recent trip to a restaurant that had her thinking about how lucky she is to still be alive. During a time when it seems like no one can quite understand cancer's toll on a person, a stranger's kindness made her reflect on all these kindnesses.

In a post, the mother says that when she asked for the check, the waitress didn't return with the total amount, but with a note from a total stranger. The few sentences had an effect on Edwards, and his generous move to pay the bill did not go unnoticed.

Jerina Edwards and her family were dining at a restaurant when she received a generous surprise from a stranger.

The mom, who has breast cancer, was astounded when a man left her a note about his wife and took care of her bill!

The thankful mother couldn't help but thank him publicly on Facebook, whoever he is.

The note reads: "I lost my wife to cancer 5 years ago. I know how tough it can be going through this. Your meal is on me. Merry Christmas."

In a Facebook post about the incident, the mother responds:

We went out to eat last night at a little Chinese place after church. Right as we were getting ready to ask for our ticket the waitress brought us this. More than anything, having cancer has shown me that there are a lot of good people in this world and that I am grateful my own family won’t be leaving notes like this for others.

It has been hard, I have fought, I have been sick, tears have been shed, I have missed out on things, I have lost my hair, and I will lose my breast, but I will live. I WILL LIVE. My parents will still have their daughter, my husband will still have his wife, my children will still have their mother. Whoever you are – thank you.
