Tiny Teen Girl Lifts Burning Pickup Truck To Save Dad’s Life

Charlotte Heffelmire is a mere 5’6, 120 pounds, but if there were ever a time to apply the phrase "Never judge a book by its cover," that time would be now. When Charlotte walked out of her home, the 19-year-old noticed smoke and fire was coming out of the garage. She ran and saw that her father, Eric, was pinned under his massive pickup truck. Eric was working on the truck when a jack slipped. Gasoline spilled as he struggled under the crushing weight of the truck. The garage immediately caught fire.

"I thought they'd be pulling out a dead body later in the evening," Eric said. Fortunately that didn't happen, thanks to his tough-as-nails daughter. Charlotte lifted the pickup truck and pulled her father out. She then climbed into the flaming truck, fearing that it would explode, and drove it away from the home. Charlotte then closed the garage doors to contain the fire, then got everybody out of the house.

Not only did Charlotte save her father, but her entire family from who knows what. Even still, the young woman remains incredibly humble. She was honored with a Citizen Life Saving Award by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, but doesn't think she quite deserves it.

“They almost made me believe that I deserved it, but I still don’t think that I do,” she told Fox & Friends.
