Man Pushes Molten Sugar Through Wooden Gears To Create Incredible Christmas Candy Ribbons

If you've ever eaten a piece of candy and wondered how it was made, you'll absolutely love this video. At Public Displays of Confection, candy makers create handmade candies.

Recently, one of their candy makers shot a video explaining how he creates Christmas-themed ribbon candy.

"Public Displays of Confection use a very old ribbon candy machine to finally make some nice ribbon candy just before Christmas 2016," reads the video description. "This batch was cherry, but we've made tutti frutti, and peppermint too. Lofty Pursuits makes candy on equipment made from the late 1800's [sic] until the modern day. We concentrate on finding and restoring old candy equipment and re-learning the dying art of hard candy making."

The video begins with the candy maker pouring candy coloring and flavoring into liquefied sugar. To make it Christmas-themed, he uses red and green as the primary colors.

After mixing the colors into the sugar, the candy maker cuts the colors apart and lets them melt down on the metal table. Then he reshapes them and combines them in layers.

Once the layers are arranged by color, he begins stretching the candy out slowly. As it stretches, the layers become stripes in a long, thin strip of candy.

The candy maker then cuts pieces of candy and slides them through wooden gears to create the ribbon twists. Watch the video to see how beautiful the process is!
