Virginia Mom Starts “Cards For Caden” To Cheer Up Her Little Boy

This little cutie pie looks like he doesn’t have a care in the world, and he seems to feel the same way!

But bubbly little Caden Allen is going through a tough time, even if he doesn’t show it. The four-year-old boy is battling a number of invisible illnesses that affect his day-to-day quality of life.

He battles frequent infections, asthma, and allergies. Most recently, he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor that will further complicate his medical regime, which already involves twelve pills and two medical machines daily.

While Caden has a naturally sunny disposition, hours of every week spent at the doctor’s office started to wear on him. Mom Alicia was heartbroken when her little boy spoke up.

“He didn’t want to go to the doctors anymore. He told me that he was kinda tired of it, that he spends more time at the doctor’s and he wants to go to the babysitter’s”

Desperate to find a way to lift her little boy’s spirits, Alicia, who is a single mom, hit on an innovative solution bound to brighten his day. She started Cards for Caden, requesting that strangers send in greeting cards to create a positive addition to his morning routine, much like the birthday cards folks sent to this young man!

Alicia’s idea took off in a big way, and Caden seems delighted with the stacks of well-wishes that he receives every day. Thanks to his creative mom and the kindness of strangers, he now has dozens of new friends to cheer him on!
