Avi Gandhi is more than just a store owner — he's a good friend to his loyal customers in Levittown, NY. Liz Morrison Media created the short documentary Cash Mob for Avi to tell the story about a small community that came together to give a small business owner the surprise of his life.
Everyone in the town knows Avi works seven days a week, forcing him to miss important moments with his family, like when his wife Bharati battled cancer last year. At the time this video was filmed, his sales were so low he could barely pay his rent. Avi feared he'd have to close his store and become another failed business in the neighborhood strip mall.
Some of Avi's biggest fans decided to give him the surprise of his life to help him go out in style. They rallied the community and planned a "cash mob" (like a flash mob, but with money instead of singing or dancing) to show Avi how much he's loved. Meanwhile, Avi had no idea what was brewing outside his store. On what should have been a slow Saturday, dozens of customers filled his small store, purchasing dusty items off his shelves. When Avi starts to catch on, the emotion of the day takes over. He's left in a state of shock, and I couldn't help but tear up.
This film is a joyous celebration of a small business owner and an all-around great guy. Please SHARE it with your friends on Facebook!
