In college, I worked in the dining hall, where I was often stationed at the deli counter. Let me tell you, creating made-to-order sandwiches for college students was not the most fun.
People loved to order absolutely ridiculous things, and then ask to see every single step of the process to make sure I wasn't "doing it wrong."
Many people who work in the food industry know what this is like. Servers in restaurants get complaints about food all the time, and sometimes customers even return food to the kitchen for no apparent reason.
Recently, staff at a deli-type restaurant were stunned when a customer came to return his sandwich because it hadn't been perfectly cut in half.
Instead of being offended by the ridiculous customer, staff decided to play along and they pulled out a ruler to measure the cheese sandwich — and it turns out the customer was right!

Peter Norris, the CEO of Corowa RSL Club in Australia, shared the story on LinkedIn, along with a photo of the cheese sandwich.
He wrote:
In Clubland we do see some strange customer complaints.

This roll was returned today because it was not cut in “half” as requested by the customer.
While it was quickly dismissed as funny, further investigation revealed the customer was in fact correct and we were a full cm off the perfect cut!

To prove just how "off" their cut was, staff members grabbed a ruler and wrote on the sandwich with a permanent marker.
As you can see, one side of the sandwich is a centimeter larger than the other half!

When the sandwich story made its way to Twitter, people couldn't stop laughing at the nitpicking customer.
One person wrote, "Ha, this is just weird (for so many reasons!)."
Another commenter was less concerned about the way the sandwich had been cut and more worried about the cheese.
She wrote, "I'd be more concerned about the shiny curling cheese!"

If you got this sandwich as a customer, would you even notice the halves were different sizes?

More importantly, if you worked at the deli where the customer returned this sandwich, what would you say to the customer?

It's a good thing the staff at the store was able to laugh off the situation and actually just play along with the customer.
They really seem to understand the idea that the customer is always right.

This story may be absolutely ridiculous, but at least nobody blew it out of proportion!
It's much more fun to be able to just laugh at it anyways.
