She Used An Antique Chicken Feeder And A Mason Jar To Create A Cute Lamp

I love a good DIY project — especially when they involve my true passion: antiques!

They might be old, and they don't always work like they used to, but antiques can be upcycled into some of the coolest items — like this 1900s sleigh turned beautiful lounge chair.

But sometimes, an antique might not always have an immediate use, especially if they're a little odd — like a galvanized chicken feeder.

However, when contemplating what to do with this vintage farm tool, DIY blogger Adina from Simply Country Life and Hometalk was suddenly struck with inspiration.

"Do you ever have moments when you lay down in bed and an idea hits you? So do I," Adina shared on her blog. "This idea was one of those."

Scroll through to see how she turned a chicken feeder and a Mason jar into one of the cutest lamps I've ever seen!

To make her adorable lamp, Adina started off with a Mason jar, a galvanized chicken feeder, and an electric window candle.

First, she took the window candle apart and removed the metal tray.

In the bottom of the chicken feeder, she drilled a hole big enough for the base of the window candle to fit.

She then ran the wires for the window candle through the hole in the chicken feeder.

Adina then put the window candle back together, inside of the chicken feeder.

To keep the the wire secure on the bottom of the feeder, she used clear tape to hold it in place.

She added rubber feet to the bottom to keep the decoration level.

Adina then screwed the Mason jar to the top of the feeder to complete the lamp!

When Christmas rolls around, she spruces it up with some festive winter decor.

She loved her lamp so much, she went ahead and made a second — this time with a bigger, clear Mason jar.

But even without the jar, the lamp adds a cute country touch to any room.
