Students Sing At School Assembly, But No One Notices Soldier Walking Right Toward Them

The Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School choir held a lovely performance on April 13 in Manhattan, Kansas.

The choir sang "Home," the hit song by Phillip Phillips, in front of the gathered school assembly.

In the video below, you will see raw footage of the performance, and the special surprise that comes about during it.

Halfway through the song, a man walks into the auditorium. He's wearing military fatigues.

In fact, the man is Chad Kohrs, an Apache helicopter pilot who has been deployed in Afghanistan since August 2016.

His kids, fourth grader Brodie and sixth grader Kennedy, are performing in the choir and have no idea he just walked in, which makes the song "Home" that much more relevant!

When he reaches the front of the assembly, Chad spreads his arms wide, and you can see the shocked reaction of Brodie when he sees his dad.

Chad embraces his son in a big hug, then the camera pans to Kennedy, who rushes down from the top row to join her brother and her dad in a heartwarming embrace.

The special homecoming was made possible by Chad's wife Jessica, who works at the school. She joins her family as the performance of "Home" continues.
