Man Shoots And Kills Stepfather For Molesting His Young Sister, Gets 1,800 Years In Jail

Crime is very complex. Of course, no one should do anything that breaks the law or causes harm to others. Sometimes the stories behind the crimes shed a lot of light on why what happened, happened.

Take the case of Christopher Bennett. He was just 18 years old in July 2003 when he made a decision that would change his life forever. Bennett was at the home of his stepfather, Vincent D. McDorman. He was about to leave after collecting money he was owed when he heard crying coming from the room of one of his little sisters, who was 5 years old at the time.

According to Bennett, he walked in and saw his stepfather on top of his little sister with his hands between her legs. He blacked out in a rage and only remembers raising a gun to shoot. Bennett shot McDorman in the head, killing him.

Bennett confessed to his crime and was subsequently sentenced to three life sentences of 600 years, for a total of 1,800 years in jail. In his conversation with Dr. Phil, Bennett revealed that he too had been molested by McDorman as a child. He had no idea until that moment, however, that his little sisters were also being targeted.

Now grown up, Bennett's sisters believe he is a hero for killing their father. They feel he saved them from a lifetime of abuse and are advocating for his release. There is a Change.org petition to bring Bennett's case to the attention of the governor of Virginia.
