To tip or not to tip — that is one of the great philosophical debates of modern commerce.
I’ve always been in favor of tipping. I figure that I can almost always afford to pay a few extra dollars if it will make the daily grind that much easier on my server.
A lot of people share that philosophy, especially when they see the challenges that many servers face on a daily basis. Oftentimes, jobs in the service industry are a means to an end, like this mom waiting tables to keep food on the table, or a way to make ends meets while pursuing an education or another dream, as we saw with this young man.
As a rule, these jobs involve long hours of work for very little pay. With that in mind, one church group set out to give one lucky worker the best tip ever.
The Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington, OH had spent the past month on a series of sermons about the importance of generosity. The teachings of the Christian Church, just like those of every other major religion, emphasize how important it is to be generous in any way that you are able, by donating money, goods, or even just time to those in need.
To cap off the series, Rev. Steve Markle, the congregation’s lead pastor, decided to practice what he had spent the past month preaching, so he called Domino’s to have a pizza delivered. When the delivery driver arrived, she was in for a truly jaw-dropping surprise.
