With the temperatures cooling down, my home has become the centerpiece of all the family activities and indoor entertaining. Because of that, I always try to make sure that my house feels warm and inviting when guests come over. One way that I do this is through smells.
Making sure the home smells amazing when someone first enters is important to me, and candles are such an easy way to do that.
I particularly love the aroma of cinnamon on a cold day, which is why I started making these rustic cinnamon stick candles. The final product looks lovely, smells great, and has a beautiful charm all the guests will love.
The best part about this craft: it’s insanely easy. All you need are cinnamon sticks, candles, rubber bands, a hot glue gun and some ribbon or twine.
You can make these decorative candles in various sizes and heights. They can stand alone or be made into a table centerpiece. They also make lovely gifts, which is good to keep in mind when thinking about those holiday presents.
When the candles are lit, they warm up the cinnamon sticks to further enhance the aroma.
In addition to making your home smell sweet, cinnamon has many healing and aromatherapy benefits. Cinnamon is said to make one feel warm, safe, and protected, while promoting uplifting feelings.
Materials:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Pillar candles in various sizes (*optional to get vanilla scented)
- Twine
- Rubber bands
- Hot glue gun
1. Wrap a rubber band around the center of the candle.
2. Measure the cinnamon sticks, and cut accordingly, so they're approximately the height of the candle.
3. Place cinnamon sticks between the rubber band and the candle. Continue all the way around.
4. Wrap the burlap lace around the candle, covering up the rubber band.
5. Cut the peice and then add hot glue to keep the lace in place.
Now your candle is ready to enjoy! Light it when you're ready to show off these glowing decorations. Here are your finished cinnamon scented candles:
As the candle warms up the cinnamon sticks, your room will be filled with the scent of spices. It smells so incredible and inviting.
*Remember: Never leave burning candles unattended or near anything that can catch fire. When you're finished, make sure to put out the flame completely before leaving the room or going to sleep.
