Cher Files For Sole Conservatorship Of Her 47-Year-Old Son Elijah Blue Allman

Cher has filed for a conservatorship of her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman, according to multiple outlets. She cited her son's substance abuse and mental health concerns. According to court documents, Cher says her son is "substantially unable to manage his financial resources."

The filing also states that Cher loves her son and has tried to help him get help, but as of now, she is worried that he is "currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues."

Cher's son is supposed to receive assets from a trust soon, and via the documents, Cher said a conservator is "urgently needed."

The documents also stated that Cher is concerned that her son will just spend his money on drugs, which could put him in danger and leave him without money. Elijah has not publicly said anything about the matter.

“Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues,” the documents say. "[Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

Due to his "current mental and physical health issues," Cher has not had the chance to "discuss his preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator" with Elijah, according to the filing.

"[Cher] loves Elijah immensely and has always acted with his best interests in mind," the filing stated. It also noted that she has "worked tirelessly" to try to help Elijah.

A hearing for a temporary order is scheduled for January 5, 2024 and the hearing for a permanent order is scheduled for March 5, 2024, according to People.

Cher's filing comes just a few months after documents that alleged that Cher arranged for her son to be kidnapped were made public. The allegations were made by Elijah's estranged wife, Marieangela King. In the December 2022 filing, she claimed that she and Elijah spent 12 days at a hotel "working out our marriage".

Marieangela alleged that after they spent 12 days together, four men came into the room to remove Elijah. "I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by [Elijah's] mother," she claimed. “That rumor is not true," Cher told People, but didn't provide more details.

According to E! News, Cher also mentioned Marieangela in her court filing, saying that she cannot be a conservator for Elijah. "Their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises," according to the filing.
