My favorite DIYs are the ones that are the most innovative or creative, using materials that you wouldn't immediately think of.
Just as you wouldn't think to make a shelf out of a pair of old crutches, there are tons of great materials out there just waiting to be totally transformed…
When Michelle from the Painted Hinge needed an entryway table, she couldn't find anything that fit in the space well and went with the furniture she already had in the living room.
That's when Michelle turned her attention to a coffee table sitting in storage, slowly splitting in half. That's when she got a brilliant idea.
With a bit of creativity, this clever DIY-er managed to turn an unused old table into something truly stunning!

Michelle's table didn't really fit into her living room, so it went into storage where it started splitting in the middle.
She just used a few blocks of wood and screws to transform the table.
She measured the coffee table and cut it into two pieces, stacking one half on top of the other.
She screwed blocks of wood to the back in order to better stabilize the legs.
To finish up, Michelle used varnish to touch up the wood.
The result was a gorgeous double-decker entryway table!
When decorated, Michelle's table was not only unique, but adorable! Imagine seeing this when you walk in the front door — beautiful!
