She Squirts Icing On A Cookie In Straight Lines. Why? Beautiful!

It's easy to head over to Pinterest and see all the amazing intricately-decorated cakes, cookies, and other delicious treats. They all look so good, but seeing them can be a little bit intimidating if you're planning on making some desserts of your own. Sure, you'd love to make some of these creations yourself, but you definitely don't want to end up on one of those "Pinterest Fails" posts all over the Internet.

The good news, however, is that some of these beautiful designs are not nearly as difficult to achieve as you might think. In fact, some of them are downright simple to execute!

In the below video, uploaded by YouTuber SweetAmbsCookies, you'll get the chance to see how she makes amazing marlbed icing designs on her cookies, and how you can join in the fun as well. It's much easier than you think!

If you watch the video, you can get the full tutorial and do your own designs right along with her, but the basics start with laying down thin lines of icing diagonally across your cookie. You can use whatever colors you like, but make sure you lay them down right next to each other until the entire top of the cookie is full of icing.

You could easily leave the design like that and it would look pretty awesome, but if you want to get the marbled effect, you'll next have to take a small "scribe tool" (which looks like a small pin) to even out the edges.

Then, take your tool and drag it through the icing in diagonal lines across the cookie, against the grain of the icing. So, if you're icing goes from bottom left to top right, then you'll want to drag your tool through it from bottom right to top left. Make sense?

Continue doing that, leaving even space between each line, until you've done the entire top of the cookie. Then you can continue to drag lines smaller and smaller for the effect you desire. Rotate the cookie and keep making lines in different diagonals. Experiment and have fun with it to make your design.

Finally, tap the cookie on the table a few times to let the icing settle and then let it dry for 8 to 12 hours. Once it's fully dry, you can pipe a border on the top of the cookie as well, if you like.

Then, just sit back, relax, and eat them up! Or share them with a friend. That's your call. I'm planning to eat mine. Ha!
