For many years, Tristan and Tonja Johnson of north Mississippi struggled to conceive a baby. Desperate to bring a child into their home, they decided to become foster parents.
Over the years, Tristan and Tonja have fostered between 20 and 30 children.
The kindhearted couple planned to adopt a group of four siblings who had been living with them when they learned they had even more siblings. The Johnsons refused to split up the sibling group, so they took them all in.
During this adoption process, Tonja miraculously became pregnant.
And then along came another surprise.
Tonja's friend came to her in desperate need. She was pregnant but knew she would be unable to raise her baby, so she asked the Johnsons if they would adopt her newborn, too.
Tonja and Tristan happily brought their friend's baby straight home from the hospital. Today, they have 10 children because, as their friends say, "their hearts are so big."
In the podcast below, Tonja Johnson discusses her journey.
