We all love to see beautiful renovations unfold, right?
As far as I'm concerned, part of being human is enjoying a good room makeover.
There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing the potential of a room being unlocked. It also gives us hope that someday our rooms could look like they belong in a catalog.
Most of us don't have the skills or know-how to give a space the HGTV-worthy transformation we want.
However, dad and Imgur user radamshome showed people that the room of their dreams is possible — if you know your way around a very large toolbox, and have lots of patience.
Radamshome decided to transform his young daughter's bedroom into any girl's dream room (myself included).
The dad estimates it may have taken 350 hours over 18 months to complete, but this project most certainly demonstrates that fairy tale endings are possible in real life.

The "before" shot shows that the space is just like any little girl's room.
Radamshome explains that his daughter is missing from this photo because she wasn't very excited to be in her room at that point.
Lucky for her, Dad is about to change all of that for good.

He explains:
I’m an artist in the video game industry, and don’t usually draw with paper so I’m out of practice. Anyway, this was the last of about a dozen sketches I did before building the model. Most of the earlier drawings looked too scary, and the last thing I wanted was for it to give her nightmares!

One of the first steps after measuring was to construct the foundation for the tree.
As you can see, he used metal rods to do this. In order for the tree to be climbable, he "over-engineered it to easily support three adults, even though it would only ever be used by little kids."
He might be underestimating the appeal — I have a feeling a few adults will take their chances, too.

Next, the steel skeleton was given a "skin" made out of expanded metal lathe.
He shares: "The happy customer. Not shown: my bandaged hands and arms. (At this stage I was about 175 hours in.)"
Dad was really putting his blood, sweat, and tears into this one. Good thing she looks so happy.

When the skin was properly applied, it was time to put another skin on top of that.
The tree trunk is made out of a clever concrete solution, and the outer branches were covered using good old papier-mâché.

The next (and probably most fun) part involved painting and decorating the tree to look life-like.
I must say, the tree looks amazing, and it's hard to believe that it was essentially homemade.
I don't know many dads with the carpentry skills and good taste to pull this off.

And it wasn't just the tree the received a makeover.
Radamshome says that his inspiration for the project was a Disney set, and it's definitely evident by the gorgeous and enchanting final product and princess canopy.

And last but not least, the tree is actually climbable and can be enjoyed from many angles!
