Curiosity can get the best of us sometimes, but this isn't always a bad thing. In David Fedder's case, curiosity gave him an interesting story and the chance to be a stranger's hero.
In the video below, posted on April 24, 2017, David explains that he had a hard time finding anything good with his metal detector, so he gave up on the hobby.
He says, "It took me forever to dig up a pull tab, so then I threw it in the closet and then a couple of years later, I pulled it back out and got curious."
After a newly reclaimed interest in the hobby, David started treasure hunting once more. "I figured there had to be more stuff out there than pull tabs," he jokes. Little did he know that he was on the cusp of a meaningful discovery.
His metal detector beeped in the grass one day. He dug three inches below the surface and found a gold class ring.
"I dug up a gold ring and that was pretty much it for me," he says.
When David took the ring home, he decided to do a different kind of search: he tried to locate the ring's owner.
After more hard work, David got in touch with the man who'd lost the ring, learning that the 1998 Texas A&M graduate had been looking for it for over 20 years.
