Davy Jones Makes A Memorable Appearance On ‘The Brady Bunch’ In 1971

By the end of the 1960s, Davy Jones and the other members of the Monkees decided to take a break to focus on their separate paths as solo performers. Their self-titled TV show had been cancelled in 1968, and their abstract feature-length film debut the following year was met with disappointing responses from fans and critics alike.

But that didn't stop Jones from getting right back on the showbiz horse. His 1971 album included chart-toppings hits like "Rainy Jane" and "Girl." That same year, he made his return to the television world with a memorable appearance on The Brady Bunch. The episode aired in the family sitcom's third year.

The episode follows as the eldest golden-haired daughter, Marcia, brags to her schoolmates about being the president of Jones' fan club. She assures them that with that level of connection to the pop star, she should have no problem wrangling him for a performance at their annual dance. Of course, that's much easier said than done as she finds herself in a pickle when it appears she won't be able to get a hold of Jones after all. She even attempts to visit him at a recording studio, but admits defeat when she still can't reach him.

Just when she is ready to throw in the towel and admit her mistake, Marcia is surprised when the Englishman makes a stop at her house! The adorable moment ends with him not only agreeing to perform at the dance, but requesting her company as his date! He really always was such a charmer.
