He Drills A Tiny Hole Into An Egg. The Reason? WOW!!

Decorating eggs has been around for a long time. Whether it's just decorating them in bright colors with your family for Easter, or the incredibly intricate and expensive Fabergé eggs, this type of art has been dazzling people for many, many years.

But one Slovenian artist, as you'll see in the below video, has decided to do something a little bit different with the art of egg decoration. Franc Grom uses a drill to make thousands upon thousands of minuscule holes in eggshells to create ornate designs that will absolutely blow you away.

"When I start working on an egg," Grom says in the video, "I don't know exactly how it would look like in the end [sic]. I create the design along the way. I do a basic lace-like pattern, and then I fill it in. Sometimes it turns out beautiful."

Imagine how difficult Grom's work must actually be to perform. He's using a drill on one of the most delicate surfaces known to man — an eggshell. The fact that he's able to create one hole without breaking the entire thing should be a celebrated feat, let alone thousands of holes in a specific pattern.

"The most difficult part," he says, "is taking care that the holes are drilled close to each other without breaking the shell. I have set my personal record some three to four years ago, with a little over 24,000 holes drilled into a single goose egg."

Unbelievable. You get to see plenty of Grom's finished eggs in the video, but he keeps many of the best ones for himself. Others he sells as souvenirs and "for special occasions," the YouTube video description says. The price, for those wondering? Not cheap! Grom charges about 100 euros (that's about $113 US dollars) for every 1,000 holes.

That's too expensive for me, but Grom's creations sure are beautiful to look at!
