Demi Moore Explains The Reason She Has Carpeted Bathrooms After Fans Spot Them In A Photo

Remember MTV's show Cribs? The show focused on showing off the fancy, almost ridiculous houses of Hollywood's rich and famous. While it's tough to recall every episode by heart, likely none of the celebrity homes featured had carpeted bathrooms. That's a feature you don't see much of these days, but you can find it in Demi Moore's current home.

Fans caught onto the carpet after Demi shared some photos of her recording the podcast Dirty Diana. In the photos, you can see Demi nestled on a couch — which is also in her bathroom. The pictures very easily look like a living room, until you look closer. Behind her are sinks. In front, a lavish tub. And on the floor? Carpets.

Most of us have a small bath mat we stand on after taking a shower to avoid slipping. But having full-on carpeting seems like it might turn into a disaster. You'd have to be extra careful not to splash in the tub. Then again, these are issues that Demi likely has the funds to solve on her own.

Demi Moore isn't taking the blame for the carpet decision. She says it's all due to her ex, Bruce Willis.

"That originally was a Bruce Willis choice, not to put it off on him," she said to Seth Meyers on his late-night series. The home itself, which is located in Idaho, might also have a few climate issues that those who live outside the state may not really understand. Idaho can often get pretty chilly.

She said that since the home is located in the mountains, it can often get "very cold." So the decision is more on physical comfort than anything else. Also worth mentioning? Demi has a huge statue of Joan of Arc in her bathroom. It may be one of the most unique bathrooms of all time.

So why is she recording in her bathroom, anyway? According to Demi, that's the room with the best acoustics. Based on stay-at-home orders, many other celebrities have opted to sit inside their closets to record their podcasts, both as a place to get away and for sound quality.

For example, actors Zach Braff and Donald Faison started a podcast where they talk about episodes of Scrubs. It's called Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach + Donald, and Donald has admitted that he hides out in his closet to record. The reason is because he doesn't want to "be found" by his kids.

So what's Demi's podcast about? Well — it's not safe for kids. It's a scripted romance podcast that touches on female sexuality. It's a six-episode series that's written and directed by Shana Feste, and it may be unlike all of the other podcasts on your feed.

"I wanted to create a show about a marriage that felt genuine and compelling and so erotic it made you want to have sex with your partner after listening to it," Shana told People magazine. "Dirty Diana gave me the opportunity to work with some incredible actors, including the amazing and sexy Demi Moore, who brought my characters alive and gave them a sensuality and sexuality that was palpable."

Having it be female-focused was also a big goal of Shana's and something she knew would set her podcast apart from others. "I'm hoping listeners get a fresh perspective of sex as seen through an all-female lens," she said. Betsy Brandt, Mackenzie Davis, and Carmen Ejogo are also involved in the production.

Is there something on my head?

It's possible that recording in her bathroom also puts her in a mood to record. Carpet or not, it's still a gorgeous area to find a little bit of comfort. And based on Demi's current living situation, it's important for her to be as comfortable as ever. Fans couldn't believe reports that Bruce was staying at home with Demi and their children, especially when he has another branch of family to attend to.

Demi's Idaho house has, as she calls it, a lot of odd and quirky details aside from the carpet. "This place definitely houses a lot of my treasures and I have had some big laughs over the comments with my family, who know me well, of all of my eccentricities of small and large," she said to Seth Meyers. "You know, like, my giant tennis ball. My giant safety pin."

She did want to make sure fans knew that the couch wasn't always in the bathroom — even though it looks so good in there. "I had to move all that in because, you know, we were doing this podcast that we are here [on your show] to talk about," she said. "We had to find the place for the best sound. So I did a test in my closet. I did in various places."

"I was in there for many hours a day, but I couldn't bring full-size furniture in. So this little miniature couch was something that I made for my children long ago," she explained. No matter what, it's good to know that Demi and her family are in a safe place that seems to make them all happy.

While Bruce did raise eyebrows for being with Demi and his daughters, it seems like Bruce's wife, Emma Heming, did join the gang and their "bubble" at one point in May. According to daughter Rumer, the reason that Emma and the kids didn't join up sooner was based on an incident that happened at the park.

It really was a happy birthday for me

"My stepmom was supposed to come up here with my little sisters but my younger sister, who is now about to be [6] years old, at a park, had never gotten the talk about not f***ing with hypodermic needles that she found so she actually tried to poke her shoe with it and poked her foot," Rumer said. "So my stepmom had to be in LA waiting to get the results from taking her to the doctor so my dad came up here and then travel got crazy so my stepmom stayed in LA with my little sisters."

The good news is that everyone seems to be OK — and there's no strange tension between Emma and Demi, which many fans wondered about. They really are a healthy blended family, and there seems to be no hard feelings about the past. Even the bathroom carpet decision seems to be water under the bridge.
