One day about 10 years ago, Angela Milner-Brown and her husband, Angus, needed a new chair. Like many people, they were also looking to get a good deal and save some money.
So the couple bought one at auction for £5, which is about $7. A pretty good deal for a well-made, upholstered chair. Only they weren't too fond of the upholsery, and decided to get it redone.
But, as usual, life in general got in the way and the chair sat in the attic for another six years. Angus finally decided to get the chair reupholstered, and today, he and Angela are very glad they didn't just paint the chair a different color.
At first, Angela had no idea anything was different, except for the chair's upholstery, that is.
And then when their wedding anniversary rolled around, Angus surprised her with a diamond ring.
The next Valentine's Day, it was a pair of diamond earrings.
And at Easter? A diamond brooch.
Where were all these diamonds, an estimated £5,000 (about $6,650) of diamonds seemed to be just appearing out of thin air. But actually, it was less air… and all chair.

The chair in question didn't look remarkable, and sold for the unremarkable price of about $7.
In fact, it was so unremarkable that the couple decided to get it reupholstered, but didn't have the budget at the time. So the chair simply sat in the attic for six years.
When Angus finally brought it in, he made a startling discovery.
Hidden inside the chair, and only discovered when the old fabric was stripped away, were a diamond ring, a pair of diamond earrings, and a small diamond brooch.
But instead of showing Angela immediately, Angus decided to make things a little more romantic and surprise her with them. Which is really sweet!
The couple recently had the jewelry appraised by the experts on Antiques Roadshow, and learned that the jewelry has a combined value of £5,000, or $6,650.
The pieces are also beautiful, but the Milner-Browns have no way of knowing who put them into the chair, or when, or why.
Of course, a lot of mysteries are solved through the internet, so maybe this one will be, too!
How does Angela feel about the secret being kept from her? She's fine with it.
"It was a really lovely thing to do," she says.
"It was an amazing, wonderful discovery for us," Angela continued. "You just never know what you'll find in an old piece of furniture, I suppose."
