From C-3PO and R2-D2 to HK-47, Keanu Reeves, and the Cylons, robotic kind have always been viewed with a combination of fear and intrigue. The idea that human beings could potentially create something with sentient thought is a disturbing prospect to many people, while it's the obvious next step to enlightenment to many others.
Technology has certainly grown exponentially since Phillip K. Dick's epic masterpiece Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? From amazing spider robots who have learned how to dance the salsa, to the terrifyingly real cyborgs who, ten years from now, will probably be too lifelike to distinguish the difference, humans have grown by leaps and bounds to create better and better robots.
Whether it be for war or entertainment, these robots are here to stay and they will definitely get stronger, faster, and smarter. It's up to us to make sure the Matrix doesn't become real life! Unless, of course, it already is real life and we just don't know it yet…
Either way the 13 robot Gifs below are absolutely terrifying. They will leave you with horrible dreams, like Blade Runner's Unicorn running through a forest. Humanity is building its successor and soon enough these 13 will be considered the forefathers of the Robotic race; and we humans will be lost… Like tears in the rain.
