Has anyone ever told you that you have too many pairs of shoes?
I've heard this a million times, and I always come back with the same argument: I don't have too many shoes, I just don't have enough space for them!
Shoes lying around all over the place are a common problem, especially if you have a big family. I came across a very clever upcycling project on Imgur that could really help out with this issue.
The DIY-er had the siding of an old drop crib in her basement that wasn't being used for anything more than a towel-drying rack.
Oftentimes it's difficult, or even illegal, to get rid of old cribs and other baby items. Instead of trying to dispose of the old crib, she decided to turn it into something useful instead!
Like many families, she had plenty of shoe clutter in the garage. She decided the old crib was exactly what she needed to solve that problem.

This clever DIY-er decided to take the siding of an old drop crib.
It had been sitting in her basement and was the perfect piece to use for an upcycle project to help with the shoe clutter in her garage.
The one thing she didn't have lying around for this project was adhesive grip tape to hold the shoes in place.
After a quick shopping trip on Amazon, she had her one-inch tape and she was ready to begin her project.
Carefully, she applied the tape to the tops of each slat on the crib siding.
The DIY-er used a castor wheel to apply the tape to keep the adhesive from tearing up her hands.
Next, she utilized some simple mounting hardware to act as a hanger for the shoe rack.
Hardware like this can be cheaply purchased from IKEA or websites like Amazon.com.
The DIY-er realized she had to allow some space between the shoe rack and the wall for the tips of the shoes to rest.
In order to do this, she used a photo clamp to create the needed space.
She attached an additional photo clamp to the bottom rung as well.
Now, the shoe rack was ready to be mounted!
Here's a snapshot of the completed project without the shoes.
As you can see, it doesn't take up a lot of space, but it will help to free up plenty of floor space once the shoes are up!
Here's the completed product in action!
Now no one can complain about the amount of shoes she has since they're up and out of the way.
