A Cheap, Easy Way To Make Citronella Candles For Summer

With the awesome summer weather comes something we all dread: Bugs! Bugspray! Mosquito bites! Oh no. I'm constantly trying to think of ways to rid my summers of the pests, without having to spray myself and my guests with sticky, smelly bug spray. Seriously, mosquitos have ruined so many otherwise gorgeous summer evenings spent outside with my friends.

…But have no fear! Adventurely is here to teach you how to make your own citronella candles. With the help of this DIY project, there's no need for bug spray, and the result makes your garden gorgeous!

While citronella oil can be applied to your skin, it needs to be continuously re-applied to remain effective. That's why these candles are so brilliant, and simple to make. All you need? Pre-made wicks, candle wax, citronella oil, jars, and crayons for color. Try to find waxed wicks that stand up straight on their own, to make things even easier on yourself.

I love how she adds the melted crayons to the mix, creating lovely shades of blue, green, pink, and purple.
