I absolutely love tackling new upcycle projects. Taking something old and useless and transforming it into something new and cool is one of my favorite activities.
I've tried upcycling old items laying in my garage, like a leftover tire that became a living room ottoman. I've even tried utilizing leftover scraps of wallpaper for DIY projects.
But I had never thought of upcycling something to make a whole new place to live. So when I saw what one DIYer did to completely transform a 40-year-old cargo trailer, I knew I had to take a closer look.
This beautiful upcycle project combines two of my favorite things: DIY work and tiny homes.
I found this tiny house built by Instructables user Dustman0042. For less than $800, he was able to create a stunning micro camper that is perfect for any summer road trip. I wish I had one of these! Would you want to take a trip in a gorgeous micro camper like this? Let us know in the comments.

This clever DIYer started by finding this 40-year-old cargo trailer. He writes on Instructables, "It can be anything you want, an old camper that's rotten, a jet ski trailer, cargo... anything really."
He then gutted the inside of the trailer, cutting off the back and roof.
Next, he began to assemble the new structure. He writes, "I used 2x3 studs to frame out the entire inside."
He "then built a quick and dirty roof with enough space for [him] to stand up in."
He repurposed windows from an old RV for his new camper.
He then finished the outside by adding a tin roof and a beautiful coat of red paint.
He also repurposed an old RV door to make a nice entrance to his new traveling tiny home.
Inside, he placed a soft queen-sized mattress and fitted the camper with 5 LED lights.
He created shelving for plenty of storage, making the inside comfortable and functional.
This gorgeous upcycled micro camper really is perfect for any vacation. And to top it all off, the whole process took only three weeks and cost just $800!
This brilliant DIYer writes, "You can go camping and have a real mattress to lay on at the end of a long day's hike! And come on, it looks like a Tiny House... just smaller!"
