Two Friends Turn Wood Burners Into Stunning Classic Cars

Shaun and Pete have always had an interest in art, but didn't think their interests could realistically turn into a career.

But when a log burner in Pete's backyard fell apart, he was determined to make one of his own. Soon after, Shaun's wife purchased a pricey chiminea. Shaun was convinced he could do better and started working on a burner himself.

The two friends quickly found they had a knack for creating functional, artistic burners. They expanded their thinking and began creating burners inspired by caricatures from films. The pair also drew inspiration from classic cars — similar to this DIY-er who refashioned an old pickup truck into a unique bench!

Thanks in part to their combined experience in steel fabrication and love of art, Shaun and Pete decided to begin selling their crafts.  Unsurprisingly, their crafts caught people's attention quickly, and the requests came rolling in. These two certainly proved that if you want something done right, you can always do it yourself.

Shaun's interest in wood burner crafting began after his wife purchased a chiminea for over $200.00. He was certain he could do better and fabricated one of his own. He based his project off of a villain in a film he'd seen.

When Shaun and Pete met at Chesterfield Fabrications in 2008, both of them were into Formula 1 racing. Shaun brought one of his classic cars to an event, along with a wood burner he had just made. Although he thought the onlookers were discussing his classic car, he quickly realized they were discussing his wood burner!

Shaun and Pete saw this as an opportunity to make some money. So after fabricating a few pieces, they posted their work on eBay. To their surprise, the work sold very quickly.

After their success on eBay, they decided to set up a Facebook page and started selling burners that looked like camper vans and VW Beetles.

In order to keep up with demand, the guys rented out a space and set up an email account for order requests. Their account crashed almost immediately due to high demand.

With their wives' blessing, Shaun and Pete quit their day jobs and began fabricating wood burners full-time under the business name, Creation Fabrication Ltd. With over 60,000 likes on their Facebook page, we'd say this was a good business move!

Today, Shaun and Pete attribute much of their success to their wives. They even mention on their website that they wouldn't be where they are today without their help!

With the help of their family and a growing group of fans, their business is booming!

Although their unique work is admired by many, some people prefer to make specific requests of their own.

Shaun and Pete are always willing to work with their customers. Their website even claims, "If it can be done, we'll do it."
