Pregnant Dog Adopts Orphaned Squirrel Into Her Litter Of Puppies! How Beautiful Is This Family?

Debby Cantlon is the first person her friends think of when they encounter an animal in need. For most of her life, people have came to Debby to seek help when they encounter a lost or injured animal, as she has always enjoyed helping living creatures.

Debby suffers from cancer and says that caring for and rescuing animals helps her condition and acts as therapeutic for her. While it wasn't surprising that someone asked Debby to take in a newborn squirrel they found fallen from a tree, what happened when the squirrel arrived was unbelievable.

Debby's pride and joy, her pregnant pooch, Giselle, quickly befriended the baby squirrel, who was still nursing and really missing her mother. The photos below will move you, as you see how a family welcomed in a stranger as one of their own.

If only ALL living beings could be so kind, the world would be a much happier place.

The baby squirrel, who Debby named Finnegan, still needs to be fed by a bottle. Debby says she plans to release the newborn back into the wild once he is in good health.

Debby couldn't believe how her Papillon pup reacted to meeting the baby squirrel. The Papillon, Mademoiselle Giselle, immediately accepted the lost baby into her home.

Finnegan met Giselle just days before she was due to deliver puppies. When Giselle was ready to give birth, she wanted the pup to be by her side SO badly that Debby and her husband watched the dog drag Finnegan's cage by her side, TWICE.

Finnegan has made his way into the new litter. He acts both as a mother's helper and one of the pups.

After a few days, Giselle allowed Finnegan to nurse from her, too. He buries himself in with the pups and suckles just like any other pup in the litter.

For the most part, Finnegan feeds from a bottle. However, he still snuggles up with his "siblings" whenever he gets the chance!

In just a matter of days, Finnegan went from having no one in this world to being part of a huge family! He gets along with the 5 Papillon puppies like he is just another brother.

Finnegan will likely someday need to return to the wild, but for now he is right at home. It's a beautiful thing!
