Dog Hero Reveals The Surprising Truth About Pit Bulls On ‘The Daily Show.’ Must See!

Tia Torres is a beloved animal hero, most recognized for her Animal Planet show "Pit Bulls and Parolees." The show depicts the day-to-day operations at the Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, including rescues of abused, neglected, and stray dogs, and the Center's efforts to adopt out dogs to new owners. This week, she appeared on "The Daily Show" to talk to the always amazing John Stewart about her important life's work.

Tia Torres had a difficult childhood, and at an early age she developed a passion for adopting homeless animals and caring for them like they were her children. She also worked for the Army and as a gang counselor. In the late 90s, Tia met a pit bull named Tatanka who changed her life forever. The dog, who many would peg as vicious and scary, broke free from a kennel attendant and ran toward Tia's daughters, knocking them down — and licking their faces with nothing but love and affection. With Tatanka's help, Tia built the Villalobos Rescue Center, the largest pit bull rescue facility in the country.

Tia has made it her mission to change the stigma attached to Pit Bulls, and prove to the world how loving, kindhearted and incredible this breed truly is. It's great that "The Daily Show" gave her this opportunity to hopefully bring this issue to light among a new audience of animal lovers.
