Have you ever found dog poop on your front lawn and thought to yourself how nice it would be to find the person who isn’t cleaning up their dog’s mess? Well, as it happens, there may be a way.
This video story shared by Inside Edition discusses the cool new business that might be able to help you track down dog parents in your area who refuse to pick up after their dogs.
Lisa Guerrero from Inside Edition notes that there are signs posted in almost every neighborhood and apartment complex across the United States telling dog parents to “curb [their] dog,” but these signs seem to go ignored far too often.
“It’s a huge problem and one of the ones that we get the biggest complaints about. Kids step in, parents step in it. Other dogs can get sick,” explains property manager Gina Olsen.
PooPrints is a DNA laboratory in Knoxville, Tennessee, that specializes in dog poop analysis. The lab processes nearly 18,000 samples per month and has generated over $65 million in fines for clients seeking out dog parents who continually leave dog poop in their area.
A lot of modern apartment and condo complexes across the States now require dog DNA from the pet parent upon moving in.
When a client finds unwanted poop in their yard, they’re able to do a DNA test that should easily match up to a dog within their neighborhood and allow them to catch the “poo-petrator.”
To see how Inside Edition tested PooPrints' skills by administering a dog poop test of their own involving three different dogs, check out the video.
