Two people and a dog were pulled from an icy pond in Lyndon, and the dramatic rescue was all caught on camera.
According to reports, the couple was walking their dog, Lady, when the pup fell through thin ice. While attempting to rescue Lady, both her owners eventually slipped into the water as well.
In the video, filmed from the rescue helicopter, the dog is seen floundering in the water, using both her paws to stay afloat. Emergency rescuers pulled Lady's owners from the water first. But it was a quick-thinking neighbor who intervened and jumped into a kayak to help save Lady and bring her back to dry land.
The couple were taken to a local hospital where they were listed as being in a stable condition with hypothermia. The dog was taken to the vet and, while she was shaken up, she'll be okay.
In most cases, there are grave dangers to walking on frozen lakes when temperatures stay around freezing. It's important to stay away — despite how enticing and safe it may seem — unless you're certain the ice has been frozen for a while and is thick enough to support your weight. Please exercise extreme caution before ever walking across a frozen lake.
