Hysterical Dad Transforms 6-Year-Old’s Animal Drawings Into Reality

Watching a child grow and develop creatively is one of life's joys, and an even bigger joy is creating art with your child. It's a beautiful learning experience for everyone. Kids learn the technical aspects of drawing, and parents are inspired by the curiosity and uninhibited creativity of children.

And when both parent and child have some serious talent, they can join forces to create something truly memorable — and, in this case, hilarious.

Dom is six years old and loves to draw what he sees, everything from animals to bikes to people (but mostly animals). After he creates a drawing, his dad, who is a graphics artist, uses it to see what Dom's versions of things would look like in real life.

Dad combines his son's drawings with photos, and digitally manipulates the photos to fit Dom's vision.

The results are hilarious, and even kind of disturbing sometimes, but always in a fun and lighthearted way.

Adult artists have long been inspired by the freedom and immediacy of kids' art. Where Dom's dad creates images, there's also a mom turning kids' art into wearable keepsake jewelry.

The artwork is a creative expression and exploration for kids, but for parents, it's a memory they can cherish. And for Dom and his dad, their combined artwork is something they can both look back on fondly in the future.

Six-year-old Dom loves to draw the world around him, and especially loves drawing animals.

He gets his artistic talent from his dad, who takes Dom's originals and turns them into hilarious and surreal "photos" through digital editing.

The images on the left are Dom's original drawings, and the ones on the right are his dad's versions and what things might look like if they really were the way Dom draws them.

Dom's dad uses actual photos of the animals Dom draws to get the colors, patterns, and textures right, and also uses Dom's shapes and proportions.

The result is bizarre and alien — and totally hilarious. This is what the world would look like if it were drawn by a six-year-old.

Also, all the animals would be happy, it seems, like this wobbly elephant.

Dom's doodles show all kinds of animals, as well as other things that catch his interest. He manages to capture the details of each subject, like the long legs of this flamingo.

Of course, sometimes, his work is open to interpretation.

This four-legged creature might be a zebra if you give it stripes…

But put it underwater, and it becomes a seahorse!

We know seahorses don't have legs, but it seems like Dom's dad wanted to make a play on the "horse" part.

Of course, some of his creatures are mysterious, like this one.

No one, not even Dom, is really sure what this is. But we like it.

Sometimes, Dom's dad contrasts Dom's version of an animal with a real-world one so we can see how Dom interprets things.

And he's often surprisingly close!

And of course, none of his animals are without their smiles — even the ones with beaks.

They might seem a little freaky, but they're also very funny.

And Dom doesn't limit himself to animals. This human face got to adorn a classic marble bust.

And this plane is zooming through the sky, thanks to what appears to be three rocket boosters on the back.

He's even tried his hand at a bicycle, which is really hard to draw, thanks to all their tiny parts. But he did pretty well!

You can see more of Dom and his dad's collaborations on Instagram. As a bonus, all the images there are accompanied with little rhyming poems.
