Beloved actress Doris Roberts passed away on Sunday at the age 90 in Los Angeles, CA. She was best known as Marie Barone on the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond starring comedian Ray Romano.
Roberts won five Emmy awards, four of them for her role as the caustic, but charming mother-in-law on Raymond. She spent nine years on the critically acclaimed comedy, and won her fourth and final Emmy in the clip below in 2005. It's also important to mention that Roberts played key roles in many other memorable TV shows and films, including Remington Steele and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
She’s survived by her son Michael Cannata Jr. Roberts’ second husband, William Goyen, died in 1983.
To remember Roberts on this special day, we've featured a clip of her winning the Emmy in 2005 for her work on America's favorite sitcom. She lovingly thanks her friends in her cast, her acting teacher, and, last but not least, her beautiful grandchildren.
