If you watched Drew Barrymore’s hit 1999 romantic comedy, Never Been Kissed, you may have related to her character Josie’s journey of overcoming those super-awkward teen years and finally coming into her own and finding love.
On a segment on her daytime talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew joked about how she still feels like “Josie Grossie” while talking to men all these years later. She makes light of the fact that when she’s trying to talk to a man whom she might be romantically interested in, those nervous and awkward feelings that are very “Josie Grossie” come bubbling up.
Upon the suggestion that no matter how cool and collected some guys might seem on the outside, they are often feeling the exact same way, Drew exclaims that she is absolutely “looking for her ‘Joseph Grossie!’”
Drew has been married three times, most recently to Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016. The two share custody of their two girls, Olive and Frankie.
In late 2020, she spoke to Sunday Today about how she took her divorce from Will Kopelman particularly hard and how it was such a “painful thing” to go through. She even went as far as saying, “I think I’m equally as scared to find love again” after putting her girls through the divorce, but now things may be looking up in her love life.
In a segment called "Dear Drew" on Entertainment Tonight, Drew answers questions from fans, and one person asked her if she believed in love at first sight, to which she replied, “I totally do.”
She went on to explain that she believes “we are chemically attracted to certain people and it’s so cool,” which showcases a positive attitude toward finding love in the future.
