Elephants are known for being gentle, empathetic and kind souls, but when you actually see this behavior, it's completely astounding.
The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is home to many of these beautiful and majestic creatures. At the park, they are protected from poachers and other wildlife, but not far away live elephants in very different circumstances.
Nearby live elephants trapped in captivity, who are forced to work transporting goods and people. These elephants have been captured against their will and they are mistreated and miserable.
When a group of elephants from the safe haven hear the cries of their friends nearby, something unbelievable happens. Around 40 seconds into this video, you will hear the "trekking camp" elephants cries and see the nature park elephants running fast to see them.
This video is so heartbreaking, but at the same time it shows how wonderful and caring elephants are. We have a responsibility to help these amazing animals!
