21-Year-Old With Special Needs Shovels Snow, Then Sees Elderly Neighbor Collapse On Ground

Ethan Johnson lives at home with his mother in Idaho. The 21-year-old has special needs, but everyone has always focused more on his generous spirit and uplifting personality.

Recently, Ethan's neighbor got to experience just how wonderful Ethan truly is when he had a harrowing medical problem outside his home.

Both Ethan and his neighbor, 72-year-old Jerry Wixom, were shoveling snow in front of their houses when Jerry had a strange sensation in his legs. He was losing the feeling in his feet, and he suddenly wasn't able to stand anymore.

Ethan noticed Jerry collapse and he knew he needed to do something, so he dropped his shovel and ran inside, yelling for his mom to help. Ethan's mom called an ambulance and Ethan ran back outside to help Jerry.

"I carried him to the front porch, so the ambulance and fire truck could come and help," Ethan explains in the video below. And help they did — they brought him to the emergency room, where doctors discovered that Jerry had suffered two strokes.

Jerry is so grateful that Ethan was outside on that fateful day. "It was an act of God," Jerry says. "If he hadn't been out there, I would have been in deep trouble."

And now Ethan is being rightfully hailed as a hero. Not everyone would know what to do in a situation like that, but because of Ethan's quick thinking, he saved his neighbor's life.
