Crystal Eldridge received a little blue blanket with construction trucks on it for her baby shower.
More than three years later, the little baby blanket has become a constant source of love and comfort for her son Parker, who is autistic.

The blanket receives so much attention and affection that it is slowly wearing down, and Elderidge became worried about what would happen when it becomes too worn to use.
"Parker has loved this blanket since birth — I've tried over the past two and a half years to get him to accept others as his lovey, but it's been unsuccessful," Eldridge explained to TODAY.
"With autism and sensory sensitivity, he becomes very fixated on objects. This blanket has been a soothing tool for him."

She searched through local stores, online outlets, and even called the manufacturer, but was unable to find a way to buy more blankets.
So she reached out to Christine Blackmon, who moderates the Facebook page Delicate Flower.

Elderage explained the blanket hunt to Blackmon and asked if she would be able to pass the story along on her page to see if any followers would have leads. Blackmon was sympathetic to her plight and agreed to help out.
"I felt for her.I have some experience with autism and understand the need for consistency. And, my youngest isn't autistic, but has a special 'snuggles,' and I know the panic we go through when we can't find it." she explained.

After the blanket description was posted on her page, Texas mom Traci Slatten saw it and decided to help out by passing it along to an online parenting community.
She was eventually contacted by Esmerelda Flores-Diaz who had a duplicate of the blanket and offered to send it to Parker.

Coincidentally, Colleen Bethal from Florida also saw the post and shared it in other groups.
"My initial reaction was, 'We have to help this mom find this blanket," said Bethel. "And, one of the teachers at my daughter's old daycare actually responded that she had one that she was not using and that I was welcome to have it."

So Parker received both of the blankets and Eldridge says that he can’t tell a difference between the three.
Thanks to the kind community of moms, he is able to be comforted by his favorite fuzzy blanket friend for a lot longer.
"Both ladies have made me such a happy mom," said Eldridge.
