When most people think of the food they eat or the backbone of America, they don't think of farmers. This video might change your mind. Farmer Johnny Georges appeared on Shark Tank with his "Tree T-Pee" invention to ask the panel of entrepreneurs for an investment of $150,000 in his company. Nervous, Georges had to stop speaking and collect himself throughout his presentation. His eyes welled up with tears, and he darted from side to side. The judges were not impressed.
His invention was groundbreaking. It conserved thousands of gallons of water for farmers every year, which saved money and the environment. The judges believed there was one huge problem in Georges' business model: It costs him $2.95 to make the product, but he only charged the farmers $4.50. He made a slim profit of $1 per sell. The judges demanded he charge more in order to make more money. That wasn't what was in Georges' heart. He is farmer, his father was a farmer, his community is farmers. He wasn't going to overcharge them for personal gain.
Instantly, one of the judges pulled out. He was in it for the money and didn't care about what was morally right or fair. Just as Georges thought he failed, another judge quickly chimed in. He decided to invest the entire $150,000. He believed the invention was brilliant, but even more importantly Georges' spirt, heart, and convictions were inspiring. Georges revealed that his father, who passed away, is who taught him how to be a good inventor, a good farmer, and a good man. He was brought to tears, and the judge rushed the stage just to shake his hand.
