No matter how confident or comfortable in your skin you might think you are, the truth is that everyone has their insecurities. For many women, these insecurities are something that they battle on a daily basis.
When we are young, we are taught that everyone is beautiful in their own way, but when every magazine cover and ad, (whose goals are to sell you the newest product), show flawless women with exceptionally toned bodies, glowing skin, and perfectly quaffed hair, it is hard to know which to believe.
On the one hand, you have people telling you to love yourself for who you are, and on the other, you are faced with constantly being bombarded with images from television, ads, and now social media that glamorize and engrave this idea of what you should strive to look like.
These ads and commercials play a critical role in the way we look at, and judge ourselves. But sometimes, everything is not as it seems…
The main problem with ads is what they don't show you. What may seem like an impossible to achieve Barbie-like figure or porcelain ageless skin, may actually be the result of hours of photo-retouching, something we have seen before when a plus-sized model was made to look rail thin, all to achieve this idea of "perfection".
In this video alone, an hour of work is completed, blurring pores, softening lines, and digitally lifting and plumping, until the image is ready to be used for commercial purposes. This editor gives an honest and eye-opening message that no one is as "perfect" as companies would like you to believe.
Whether you are a celebrity, a model, or a normal woman out of the spotlight, EVERYONE has their insecurities, but we would all be better off loving ourselves more, and comparing ourselves less.
If you think more companies should stop re-touching, please SHARE!
