Make This Magical Floating Bed In A Few Simple Steps

Your bedroom should be a true sanctuary — a place of peace, rest, and relaxation. And as we move into the winter months, you may find yourself wanting to spend more and more time nestled up in your comfy, cozy space.

That's why now is the perfect time of year to take your bedroom from functional to fantastic! If you're spending eight hours a day in there, why not make it the coolest place in the house?

You can certainly build yourself a funky, new headboard. Or even DIY a fresh set of dresser drawers. But Imgur user elohwydee is taking his bedroom to a whole new level of awesome – by building himself an incredible "floating bed."

Floating Beds look totally modern and sleek – but can cost thousands of dollars. Thankfully, he's got an easy DIY alternative that will have your bedroom feeling like a five-star hotel, but costing much, much less…

First, he put three sets of deck screws into his frame every 32 inches. Then he attached it to the two sides of his wall. Putting tape on the ground let him know how far back to hide the supports.

Next he turned joist hangers upside down to take the weight from the corners.

He made sure to put the supports in places that required a bit more structural heft. He tested to see which corners needed extra support by applying weight and assessing where the wood flexed.

The frame is now fully installed.

He then covered the frame with a single piece of plywood. Almost done!
