Really great foster parents are true pillars of any community. There aren’t a lot of people willing to open their hearts and their homes to kids who have no place else to go.
That’s why, when a foster mom speaks up about the kids she cares for, she’s probably about to say something worth hearing, as we saw with the kindhearted foster mom who took in this teenager with open arms.
A similar sense of morality was at work for Massachusetts foster parent Barbara Noe Paige, when she took to Facebook on October 27 to give voice to what she called “a rant."
Her post reads in part, “… every child that has come to our home has brought all of their belongings in a trash bag… Can you imagine everything you left with is in a trash bag.”
But she has an excellent and super-simple solution. Like these tiny sleeping bags that can save lives, she thinks that one basic amenity could radically improve the lives of the foster kids for whom she cares.
Her solution? A simple duffel bag. Her Facebook post requests the help of anyone with a duffel bag to spare, and she hoped to collect a handful of spare bags to hand out to the kids who come through her home.
But she never could have anticipated that her “little rant” would get a massive response. Now watch what happens when the local news team stops by to help keep the momentum going…
