Contestants on Jeopardy! have to think fast in order to get the right answer quicker than their opponents.

While jumping the gun may be the way many contestants secure the victory, doing so can backfire on folks, too. The responses below are more than just a little disappointing: they're hilarious.

Obviously, there's a lot of pressure when you're holding the buzzer and trying to pay attention to a prompt from Alex Trebek. I know I'd probably be totally speechless if I were standing behind those podiums.

And then there are those times when a contestant just draws a total blank and throws an answer out that they know won't be right — though it might earn some laughs, at least.

Response: "What is a titmouse?"

Correct Response: Chinchilla, which are shown above. This response is even more hilarious when you realize a titmouse is actually a type of bird.

Response: "What is a hoe?"

Correct Response: Rake, a shortened form of the old term for a "rakehell," or "hellraiser."
