Everyone’s Staring At Gene Kelly’s Feet. When I Saw Why, I Applauded!

Gene Kelly — handsome, charming, and wildly talented — is without a doubt one of the brightest stars in Hollywood's history. Who doesn't love his timeless classics like Singin' in the Rain or Anchors Aweigh?

With his athletic style and classical ballet technique, Gene not only transformed the world of movie musicals, but also changed the way America perceived male dancers. Imagine: If it hadn't been for Gene, ladies around the world might never have enjoyed the talents of men like Patrick Swayze!

But Gene was more than just a skilled dancer. He was also a brilliant choreographer, actor, director, and singer. He was inspired by the world around him, using the simplest objects (like an umbrella and a lamppost) to craft the most magical, most memorable dance sequences in entertainment history.

In this amazing clip from the 1955 film It's Always Fair Weather, Gene demonstrates that his dancing skills (and his imagination) will forever be unrivaled — even when wearing surprising footwear!

Though this film, a rare "cynical musical," wasn't a box office smash, this particular dance sequence has been hailed as the last great dance solo of Gene's career.
