What one father describes as a "typical Friday night with my nature-loving daughter" gets turned into a hilarious wild goose chase.
Birds are known for ganging up on folks if they see them as a threat. A few pecks and you may feel a little better about eating those buffalo wings. Just check out this video of a girl getting chased by her own chickens!
In this video a father tells his curious daughter to approach a goose.
"Get closer to him," Dad instructs.
Then, all of a sudden, she screams. "He's coming at me! Daddy, help!"
Fortunately, the little girl winds up safe and sound, making the video all the more adorably funny.
So, if anyone ever asks you what happens when a goose chases a human, now you can safely answer them. But what about the phrase wild goose chase — have you ever wondered where that comes from?
As it turns out, the phrase has its origins in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
"Nay, if our wits run the wild goose chase, I am done; for thou hast more of the wild goose in one of thy wits than, I am sure, I have in my whole five," the poet wrote.
The words stuck hundreds of years ago to become the popular idiom it is today. There isn't a phrase quite as fitting when describing a fruitless journey.
After watching this video, it's pretty clear just how much chasing geese is a fool's errand.
